Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are a tooth colored material that replaces old silver fillings or small to medium areas of decay.

Crowns

A crown is a “cap” that covers the entire crown of the tooth.  A crown is needed when there is large area of decay, the tooth is fractured/broken, or if there is a need to replace a large filling. A crown strengthens the tooth, protects the remaining tooth structure, and can improve appearance.  We use same day crown technology so that our patients don’t need to come back for a second appointment or have to deal with the hassle of a temporary crown.

Root Canals

Root canals have a bad reputation, but they are relatively painless!  Root canals are needed when there is an infection in the pulp of the tooth that spreads to the bone. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Dr. Altieri will remove the infected tissue (pulp) from inside the tooth and then place a sealer. Once the tooth’s pulp is removed there is no longer blood supply going to the tooth causing the tooth to become dehydrated and more prone to fracture. Once the root canal is completed a crown will need to be placed to protect the tooth and give it strength and stability.

Extractions and Bone Grafting

Extractions are sometimes necessary to keep the oral cavity as healthy as it can be.  If a tooth is broken, decayed, or infected and it cannot be saved by a crown or a root canal it is best to have the tooth extracted.  Bone grafting is important to place at the time of extraction to preserve as much bone as possible, as when the extraction site heals bone typically recedes.

Bridges

Bridges are a great option to permanently replace missing teeth.  A dental bridge is a structure between two crowns to fill the gap between missing teeth.  They can help restore your smile, restore your ability to properly chew, speak, and maintain the shape of your face.

Partial and Full Dentures

Dentures are removable false teeth that are meant to replace your natural teeth.  Dr. Altieri offers two types of dentures dependent on your need.

If you have lost some but not all your teeth, a typical solution to restore your smile is a partial denture.  Dr. Altieri offers a metal free partial denture called Valplast.  Valplast is an advanced solution for replacing missing teeth.  Unlike metal, Valplast blends naturally with your teeth and gums, enhancing the appeal of your smile.

If you have lost all your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile.  Replacing missing teeth will benefit not only your appearance but also your health.  You’ll be able to eat and speak, two things that most people take for granted until their natural teeth are prematurely lost.

NTI

NTI is an appliance that is made in office that you wear at night that fits snuggly to the front teeth. Dr. Altieri believes that NTI’s are the best option to stop grinding and/or clenching at night.  By attaching the appliance to the front teeth, it will take the pressure off the joint and can also help in reducing migraines.
